Leota writes in the following about the Sundance "Texas" screening. "The theater only had about 150 seats so it was a very intimate setting. I was on the right side, 3rd row by the aisle. Mr. Crowe came in at midnight and said a few words about the film and then took a seat to my right (behind me) and watched the screening. Afterwards there was a Q&A. I actually asked him a question! I was very nervous but said "Which of your songs is your current favorite?" to which he replied "That's a very hard question, it's like trying to choose which of your 10 kids you love the best. I love them all. My favorite will probably be the next one I write."
He was very kind and answered all questions (except a few). The Q&A lasted perhaps 10 minutes. He was wearing blue jeans, black boots and a red flannel shirt and smoked the whole time. (Take THAT Utah Clean Air Act!)" (Thanks to Leota)
"It's a very private Park City, Utah, party, and a reporter, whose photo appears regularly in this very newspaper, sidles up to this beautiful, leggy redhead, interrupting her chat with director Sydney Pollack, who is too old for her anyway. "I better warn you, I have pesto breath," says the redhead. "Can you smell it?"
"Not yet," says the reporter. "Come a little bit closer."
She giggles sweetly, and then this ruffian with tousled hair crowds in.
"Sorry, mate," he says. "But we go back a long way."He plants a big one on her lips, and the reporter knows it's over. He shuffles away, and a photographer is summoned to snap an embracing Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe, who affects a big grin when the host, Miramax co-chairman Harvey Weinstein, joins them.
Miramax will distribute "Texas", a documentary about Crowe's rock band, which had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and Kidman's "Birthday Girl". (Thanks to Sherri)
1/17/02 Mirmax films held a dinner for "Texas," produced by Russell Crowe and "Birthday Girl" starring Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin. The party was at the Riverhorse Cafe in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival.
