FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HOLLYWOOD GOES WILD FOR A ÎPETâ CHARITY: BRAD, BRUCE, MILLA, KEANU AND OTHER MOVIE STARS ÎBANDâ TOGETHER TO MAKE MUSIC FOR THE WILDLIFE WAYSTATION
Top Hollywood movie stars, including Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Russell Crowe, Keanu Reeves, Billy Bob Thornton, Jeff Goldblum and others, are lending their talents to a fundraising project to aid Californiaâs refuge for wild and exotic animals, The Wildlife Waystation.
But as singers and songwriters not actors!
The actors, who mainly sing and perform their own material, are featured on Hollywood Goes Wild, a celebrity benefit album from RPH Productions on the All-Star Music imprint that, says RPH productions vice president, Philip Hopkins, took two years to put together because of the conflicting acting schedules of the people involved.
Hollywood Goes Wild is scheduled for release in February next year.
But the Wildlife Waystation has an edge.
Copies of the album will be shipped to the facility later this month to be made available for the holiday season beginning mid-November. It can be purchased by Waystation visitors and from the Waystation website www.waystation.org.*
Part of the purchase price of Hollywood Goes Wild wherever it is sold, will be donated to the non-profit Waystation, a unique sanctuary situated in the Angeles National Forest just north of Los Angeles. It is home, at any one time, to more than 1200 animals, reptiles and birds with annual operating costs in excess of $2,000,000.
This is a wonderful gesture from our neighbors, the Hollywood community, says Waystation founder, Martine Colette, who has overseen the 24-hour-a-day facility for the past 26 years.
Between 4500 and 5000 animals a year pass through the facility, either cared for or nursed back to health and returned to the wild. We receive no grants from federal or government sources and are entirely dependent on donations from outside benefactors as well as Waystation visitors and our own fundraising efforts.
Hollywood Goes Wild will be a tremendous boost.
The Wildlife Waystation has received previous support from Hollywood. Drew Barrymore, Dyan Cannon, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Carson are supporters and sponsors of the Waystation.
Complete list of stars on Hollywood Goes Wild, plus material performed:
Jeff Goldblum ("Born Freeâky," co-writer), 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts featuring Russell Crowe ("The Photograph Kills," co-writer), Bijou Phillips ("Polite," co-writer), Brad Pitt ("Mid Town," re-mixed from the movie, "Johnny Suede"), Juliette Lewis ("Hardly Wait"), Dogstar with Keanu Reeves ("Your World"), Milla Jovovich with Plastic Has Memory ("On The Hill," writer), Billy Bob Thornton ("Island Avenue," co-writer), Mare Winningham ("Itâs So Hard," writer), Bruce Willis ("Crazy Mixed Up World"), Iggy Pop & Johnny Depp ("Hollywood Affair," co-writer).
The album producers, Mark Fine, Loren Harriett and Ron Lovely said, "We are really carrying on an old tradition with this album. Since the early days of Hollywood actors were expected to act, sing, dance and even play instruments. In fact, many of todayâs film stars started performing music early in their careers and, despite their fame as movie stars, continued to nurture their other passion - creating and recording music."
"Hollywood Goes Wild" performer, Mare Winningham, notes: Dennis Quaid convinced me that this would be a fun way to stop being worried about the Îactress who singsâ moniker and celebrate a good cause. Artists like me who are establishing themselves really benefit from being on compilations. Plus, these are people you want to rub elbows with in whatever way possible. To organize and strategize for the good of animals and people is a job that takes a big heart and dedication."
The Wildlife Waystation is a California 501 C (3) non-profit that functions as a 160 acre working wild and exotic animal sactuary. To date, they have been responsible for saving over 70,000 animals and birds lives in the last 26 years.
